Reid asking price £20 mil
Alladyce wants £20 mil for Reid......kind of agree with his logic

West Ham United defender Winston Reid is "not going anywhere" in January, according to manager Sam Allardyce.
The 26-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season, when he could leave for free, but the Hammers won't accept a cut-price offer next month.
With the Hammers chasing a European place, Allardyce believes it is vital to keep the New Zealand international.
"He isn't going anywhere," the West Ham boss said. "Unless someone bids £20million or something like that."
West Ham are fourth in the Premier League after winning eight of their opening 15 games, with Reid featuring in 14 of those matches.
Allardyce added: "If somebody flirts around with a measly offer because he is in the last year of his contract, we would make more money by keeping him and finishing where we are in the league than selling him and putting our good season in jeopardy."
Reid is currently in negotiations over new contract with West Ham and Allardyce hopes the club's good form persuades the centre-back, who is a reported target for Liverpool and Arsenal, to stay at Upton Park.
The 60-year-old said: "In the end, I just hope he decides what is happening this season here and what is happening with us now has a telling factor on the decision that he makes in the end and it is not just money."

The risk is him starting to ease off in the last few months of the season, knowing he'll be looking for a new club when it's finished.

Re: Reid asking price £20 mil
Take that risk. I'm not surer he has it in him to take it easy.

Sam is spot on here.

He's called Reid out with the correct comment on how he hopes he can see what's going on with us and be part of the next chapter and that it's not just about the money.

Come on Winnie! Yiou know it makes sense.

Sounds good. We don't need the money, so why bother unsettling our defence by selling our best defender for 3m or some token amount?

Still I'd hope we try to sign another CB, either in January or in the summer, as regardless whether Reid stays or goes we need competition for places in the CB department too - having only three established options there won't do whatwith potential injuries and the young CBs at the club still being a year or two away from the first team yet...

He was flying into tackles against Swansea so I wouldn't worry about him taking it easy.

Good player and certainly hope he stays but very far from irreplaceable.

I'm not really sure how player insurance works, but isn't Reid taking a massive risk? If he picks up a career ending injury wouldn't he be fucked if he's essentially a free agent from next season?

Eddie B 11:09 Fri Dec 12
Re: Reid asking price £20 mil
Anon, that's correct, but players tend to take out their own insurance that overlaps their club contracts.

Re: Reid asking price £20 mil
!He's obviously gonna wait till the end of the season to weigh up his options ..silly of him not to!!

i'm sure he'll get great salary offers and a signing on fee if no transfer fee is in play!

can't see any of the big boys that desperate to pay 20 mill for him at this stage of the season..

Lily Hammer 11:50 Fri Dec 12
Re: Reid asking price £20 mil
Man U should have bought three Winstons at 20 million each rather than one attacker at 60 million. Van Gaal will be willing to pay big money for a defender, though he might gamble on waiting until the summer in Winston's case, if he's interested.

Re: Reid asking price £20 mil
one of the big boys just might pay the 20 mill...

they get two positives ... a good defender and
a chance to Disrupt out team....

But if we have WR till the end of the season
and we finish 4th or higher ... Why would WR
Want to leave .....

Rossal 12:05 Fri Dec 12
Re: Reid asking price £20 mil
Because the chance to play for Liverpool or United week in week out is a more attractive proposition then West Ham

Not to mention the big payday

Big Payday if we make the CL ??? No ???

Olympic stadium ?

Re: Reid asking price £20 mil
We won't make the champions league lets be realistic

Olympic stadium will not bring him as much money as United or Liverpool

Re: Reid asking price £20 mil
Very good defender and his performances haven't been affected by all this.

I still think he lacks ability on the deck for the better clubs... However looking at the way they are all playing at the moment (Chelsea aside) they could do with going back to basics with someone that can actually defend as a start!

Grumpster 12:32 Fri Dec 12
Re: Reid asking price £20 mil
I don't want Reid to go to a big boy because I like the bloke and would hate to see him sitting on the bench every week, as he's not good enough for a champions league team.

Re: Reid asking price £20 mil
I think a lot of overseas players want the prestige of playing for a big club too, and it doesn't necessarily matter if that club are performing well. He may count playing at Old Trafford or Anfield as being him up on his list.

El Scorchio 12:37 Fri Dec 12
Re: Reid asking price £20 mil
Grumps- I agree. I reckon Liverpool and Arsenal could both use him short term, but they are after bigger fish and he'll more than likely be a benchwarmer. I suppose spurs or everton might be interested. Guess he'd be a starter there.

Life of Br-Iron 12:41 Fri Dec 12
Re: Reid asking price £20 mil
Reid would walk into both of those defences right now. He isn't good enough for a CL team said someone? But the likes Lovren and Sakho supposedly are? right-o.
